Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. has topped Forbes list of the 500 largest companies in the world for the second straight year. With over two million employees worldwide and revenues of $422 million, and with a tumultuous year behind it, not to mention flat sales of late, the retail giant is still tops in the world, and most experts expect it to hold that position for several years.

Other Companies at the Top of Forbs List

Coming in second to Forbes, and surprising many outside of financial circles is oil giant Royal Dutch Shell, whose earnings were up 21% over the previous year. Next is Exxon Mobil, followed by BP, Sinopec Group (China’s largest oil producer), China National Petroleum, State Grid (China’s top power company), Toyota Motor, Japan Post-Holdings (Japan’s postal system) and Chevron round out the top ten.
